Commissions.

Being of service to others is a love language for me.

I feel so much joy from working one on one with someone in creating something so special. Every commission feels so chock full of inspiration, commemoration, nostalgia, love. Wrapping up a memory of a special place or a moment in time through the medium of paint on a canvas will always be something I revere. To share that joy with you is a tremendous honor.

I’ve been using Milanote as a dashboard to keep track of a project, and provide as much transparency into the process as possible. I believe that leaving the opportunity during the process for input and feedback yields a result that is even more special and turns the whole painting into an experience in itself.

I’ll typically start with a moodboard culling reference photos that capture different elements of the idea. I’ll go back to these often to get a better sense of what needs emphasis in the composition or a better look at any minute details that are important to the piece. The moodboard is early in the process and gives folks a good sense of what the feeling of the painting will be like.

Depending on how clear of a vision we are starting with, I’ll do 1-2 rounds of conceptual designs to nail the composition down. With each round gaining in specificity.

Once we are feeling good about the composition, I’ll do a final proof on paper that will be used as a primary reference for the painting. This will enable us to get in any smaller details and really see how the composition will fit onto the dimensions of the canvas.

As I move along the process of making the piece, I’ll add updates after each session documenting what I did where and why. This narrative allows you to see what decisions were made and provide feedback along the way.

Let’s work together.

I’d be so honored to work with you on your next gift for a certain someone, treat for yourself, or memento to honor a special time and place in your heart. Kindly check out the contact page to reach out.
